Fra il 1096 e il 1291, partirono dall’Occidente ben otto Crociate per la conquista della Terra Santa e della sua capitale Gerusalemme, città sacra ai musulmani, ai cristiani e agli ebrei. Le motivazioni che portarono alla contesa di questi luoghi non furono soltanto religiose, ma anche economiche e politiche: ci furono decine di migliaia di vittime da entrambe le parti e per due secoli la guerra seminò morte e distruzione.
Il programma è arricchito da simulazioni delle tecniche militari dell’epoca e dell’assedio di Gerusalemme, e presenta il risultato di recenti scavi archeologici in alcuni castelli costruiti dai Crociati.

Between 1096 and 1291, a good eight Crusades departed from the west for the conquest of the Holy Land and its capital Jerusalem, sacred city for Moslems, Christians and Hebrews. The motivations that brought to the contest of these places were not only religious, but also economic and politics: there were about ten thousand of victims in both the parts and for two centuries the war sowed death and destruction.
The program has enriched by simulations of the military techniques of that epoch and of the siege in Jerusalem, and introduces the result of recently archaeological excavations in some castles built by Crusaders.
