The Complete Works
Publisher's description:
The paintings by Dieric Bouts are masterworks of the late Gothic art of the Flemish Primitives. Dieric Bouts was Dutch by parentage. Shortly before 1448, he married Catharina vander Brugghen in Louvain, but is first mentioned in the city's archives only in 1457. Bouts was a well-to-do citizen of Louvain and a renowned and esteemed artist who was in contact with circles at the University of Louvain and was charged with important official duties by the city magistrate. The city council commissioned him to paint The Justice of Emperor Otto III, as well as a lost Last Judgment. Before 1464, he painted the triptych of the Last Supper for the Saint-Pierre church in Louvain.
